The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) on Friday appealed to Federal Government to allow it collect fee on transactions at the ports.
The council’s Registrar, Mr Mike Jukwe, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
Jukwe said that the fee on transactions would enable the council to carry out its numerous activities.
He lauded the N333 million allocated to it in the 2014 budget as a welcome development.
He said that when the council received the money, it would help in meeting some of the council’s obligations.
According to him, out of the N333 million, N313.5 million will go for the recurrent expenditure, while capital expenditure will gulp N19.8 million.
He said the capital expenditure project included N3.8 million for purchase of security equipment for the council’s enforcement officers and N16 million for staff training and human capital development. (NAN)
