The Ifelodun Local Government Council in Kwara State on Wednesday presented a sum of N1.8 billion as 2014 budget estimate.
The Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Babatunde Salami, presented the budget tagged ‘Budget of Hope and Prosperity’ to the Legislative arm at Share, headquarters of the council.
According to him, the breakdown of the budget shows N708,450,000,820 as total capital expenditure to be expended on general public service, public order and safety. The economic sector, health, education and social protection would also share from the amount.
The total recurrent expenditure, the Chairman added, is N1,111,476,000,806.
Salami urged the legislative arm of the council to give the draft budget a speedy consideration and approval. He gave an assurance that the administration will strive to formulate policies that would end poverty among the people of the area.
The chairman gave an assurance that the budget was aimed at consolidating on the successes of the previous budget.
The Speaker of the Legislative arm of the Council, Mr. Segun Oluwaponle, in his remark after budget presentation, expressed delight at the budget proposal, and assured that the legislative house will give the document an accelerated passage.
