5 African countries seek NOIPolls’ assistance

OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF THE NATIONAL IDENTITY PROGRAMME IN ABUJA

Ms Oge Modie, the Managing Director, NOIPolls Ltd., a Nigeria’s leading survey and polling firm, on Thursday said five African countries were seeking the company’s  assistance to establish their firms.

Modie, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, said that NOIPolls had revolutionised data gathering and usage in Nigeria.

According to her, the data generated support planning and policies of governments and the organised private sector.

She listed the countries as Angola, Ghana, Mozambique, Rwanda and Tanzania.

Modie said that Nigerians were now proud of data generated scientifically in the country for planning and advocacy, instead of relying on the data foisted on the country by foreigners.

Also, Dr Bell Ihua, the Director of Research of NOIPolls, said that the firm’s indices on well-being, consumers confidence and business confidence would be used to measure economic growth and consumers’ behaviour.

“Portfolio of indices is key to enabling stakeholders in all major sectors of the Nigerian economy and across the globe to make informed decisions.

“They also serve as key pointers to would be investors in the Nigerian economy to enable strategic entry into the country,” Ihua said.

In his comment, Mr Bayo Akindiende, Head of Enhancing Nigerian Advocacy for a Better Business Environment (ENABLE) in Nigeria, said that advocacy should be based on data generated scientifically.

Akindiende said that ENABLE supported NOIPolls because of the need for data generation in Nigeria and the credibility of the company.

He also said that data should be used to engage the social media in evidence-based discussions and arguments for the good of the society. (NAN)
