Clik here to view. The House of Representatives yesterday ordered the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke to appear before its Committee on Justice for allegedly claiming he had been cleared by the House over his role in the controversial Malabu Oil deal.
Adopting a motion by the Minority Whip, Rep Samson Osagie (ACN Edo), the House condemned the publishing of a report that led to Adoke issuing a letter to the media claiming to have been cleared in the scandalous $1.1billion Malabu deal.
Osagie, who argued that Adoke relying on a media report wrote a letter claiming he had been vindicated on his innocence.
He accused Adoke of writing a letter to a transparency agency in United Kingdom, informing it that the House had cleared all those involved in the matter, adding that the development is embarrassing to the House in its anti corruption fight, more so that the report in question has not been debated in the House.
Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal ruled that it was important for the AGF to clarify the issuance of the letter and the authenticity of the report the letter was based on and also gave the Justice Committee headed by Rep Ali Ahmad one week to submit it report.
