The Business Manager of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), IIorin, Alhaji AbdulFatai Olatunji, has disclosed that the Company has recorded over 60 cases of cable theft within the last six months.
Olatunji who made the declaration during an interview with Royal Times correspondent explained that over 60 sub-stations across the three senatorial districts of the state were affected by the cable theft and vandalism.
He said that effort would continue to be made by PHCN towards collaborating with Security Agencies in order to track down Perpetrators of the act, noting that the state Security Service (SSS), the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Police and other relevant agencies have been contacted for monitoring of PHCN installations.
He alleged that the act was being perpetrated by some People who have the knowledge of electrical engineering.
Speaking about accrued debt, the PHCN Manager said both Private and Government establishments in Kwara are owing the Company over a billion naira.
