Youths: Kogi Govt to provide employment

The Kogi State Government said its new effort at providing employment for its teeming youths through its partnership with the World Bank is aimed at catering for the vulnerable, the poor in the society and geared towards putting stomach infrastructure, a new political lexicon, in place.

Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada, stated this when he received in audience Kogi State Youth Empowerment and Social Support Organization and the World Bank team, who were in the state to re-validate all the requirements needed by the state for the assessment of the World Bank grant for its Youth Empowerment and Social Support Organization Programme.

Wada, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Yomi Awoniyi, expressed happiness that Kogi State met the requirements for the scheme, disclosing that the present administration is due process and transparency compliant.

The Governor assured that the state will do the best it can to sustain the conditions given by the World Bank, disclosing that no condition will be difficult to meet towards ensuring that programmes aimed at providing employment, empowerment and poverty reduction for citizens of the state gets the desired attention.

He maintained that the state will continue to undertake programmes and policies that will make the World Bank to be favourably disposed to the state.

In his remarks, the Youth Empowerment and Social Support Organization, World Bank task team leader, Prof. Foluso Kumadawa, said the state met all conditions for effectiveness.

Prof. Foluso commended the state government for the success of the YAD4KOGI Programme which, he noted, provided the operational structure of the approval for the Youth Empowerment and Social Support Organization.

Speaking at the occasion, Mrs. Temitope Shinkaiye, Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Youth and Women Development, said the Youth Empowerment and Social Support Organization Porgramme will help in alleviating the sufferings of the poor and vulnerable household in the state.

Shinkaiye commended Capt. Wada for creating the enabling environment which enabled the state meet the World Bank requirements.
